About Me

I started this website sophomore year as my way of coping with a bedridden illness during finals. Nineteen years of marinating in life’s proverbial juices had provided me enough experiential ink to put pen to virtual paper. And thus this blogging endpoint was born. The primary goal is to hold me accountable to my dedicated readers and (to a lesser extent) myself. If you find any of my posts interesting let me know and tell me about points where you disagree or think I can improve! The most important part of blogging is establishing a platform where I can interact with the public on various ideas.

For those that don’t know me that well, I am currently working at Virtu Financial as a Quant Trader. My two more-technical passions during the years where I studied at the University of Texas at Austin were Computer Science and Math, and I am grateful to be using portions of those in my career. My passions (which are the topics I'll write about most) include running, finance, chess, ping pong, Judaism, basketball, epic fantasy, and cloud watching. I have strong feelings on basically everything, so I will try to tone down my opinionated language in my Reviews and Random Thoughts sections (usually unsuccessfully). I am usually more subtle and contemplative when I write my short stories and poems in my Creative Writing section.

I also love exploring different open-ended computer science and math concepts that I picked up in my years of college, a year of working at IBM, and (to a much lesser extent for disclosure reasons) Virtu. You can find some of my projects in my Interesting Ideas section of this blog.

I have a lot on my mind that I want to get onto this site, but I can't guarantee that you will find my thoughts as interesting as I do. I guess you'll just have to read my blogs to see if you like them.

For those interested, the best point of contact (unless you already have my phone number) is through email: joshua.prupes@gmail.com.
